Biodegradable plastic production. Technician working on the production of Mater-Bi, a biodegradable plastic produced by the Italian materials company Novamont. Mater-Bi is made from a mixture of renewable raw materials from agriculture, such as non-genetically modified corn-starch, and synthetic polymers. It can be completely metabolised (broken down) by soil micro-organisms, without producing pollutants.
