GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Jan. 26, 2022) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Calvin J. Coon, right, an instructor stationed with Surface Warfare Engineering School Command Great Lakes (SWESC GL), explains the anchor chain training evolution aboard USS Whitehat, a life sized ship mimic training simulator used in Boatswain’s Mate “A” School, to Rear Adm. Brendan McLane, Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic, during a visit to Naval Station Great Lakes accession training sites. The visit included touring facilities and engaged with Sailors at SWESC GL schools and Recruit Training Command, including observing the latest in modernized training methods for ready relevant learning. Rear Adm. McLane is responsible for manning, training and equipping assigned surface forces and shore activities, ensuring a capable force for conducting prompt and sustained operations in support of United States national interests. More than 70 ships and 34 shore commands make up the SURFLANT Force.
