Muddy restoration ecologists. Biologists from contractor Merkel Assoc, Inc. take a lunch break while planting cordgrass in the sinking marsh mud. Merkel was contracted to do some activities for the South San Diego Bay Coastal Restoration Enhancement Project, completed in fall of 2011, where these salt ponds were breached in two places; allowing new tidal flow in the former salt ponds after 60 years.
