Backlight view of Piazza Giambattista Bodoni with the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and the monument to Alfonso Lamarmora, Turin, Piedmont, Italy
The square, built in the first half of the nineteenth century, is named after the typographer Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813), author of numerous typeface. The building that houses the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” was built in 1928, designed by the architect Giovanni Ricci. The equestrian statue dedicated to the general Alfonso Ferrero La Marmora (1804-1878), work by Stanislao Grimaldi (1825-1903), was inaugurated in 1891 in the center of Piazza Bodoni.
