Witioof Ciiicory—"Kreneli Endive"—A delicious winter salad. Seeds sown in spring outdoors produce parsnip-like roots which should be taken up in fall, trimmed and planted in a cool cellar covered with about S inches of soil. Over this should be placed a layer of fresh manure two to three feet deep, which forces a new growth of tender leaves that are used as a salad. It is considered a great delicacy.
