The 40 meter Kakabeka falls has a lot of water rushing over it in Oct. 2011, and is on the main highway into Thunder Bay.
The brown water in this photo is said to be caused by the fast rushing water drawing out some of the iron ore, out of the Iron ore is found all over this area with lakes having a distinct brown color. Long ago it was called "The Niagara of the North. In those days a train ran from Southern Ontario to these falls. The train was full of tourists wanting to see the falls and artists who wished to paint them. Female sturgeon spawning down from falls live from 80 to150 yrs. and can grow to 9 feet long and weigh 300
