For twenty-four hollyhocks Martin Sullivan, gardener to William Whitman, won both first and second prizes.'* Mr. Sullivan showed a magnificent bank of hybrid delphiniums of his own raising, including a fine pure white one. Far- quhar & Co. had a group of herbaceous flowers arranged on a sloping bank, with a background of evergreens. In- cluded was a fine vase of Lilium myriophyllum. J. L. Smith, gardener to A. W. Preston, had a fine table of sweet peas, also fine flowers of hybrid tea roses in twenty-five varieties. E. H. Wetterlow had a dozen fine pans
