The Cabinet has double walls of asbestos board, which is fireproof and a poor conductorof heat. The space between the walls is filled with magnesia-asbestos (magnesia 85 per cent,asbestos 15 per cent). The door is constructed on the same principle as the walls. To pre-vent loss of heat by conduction from the inner to the outer walls, no metal framing is used inthe construction of these cabinets. The perforated shelves are of the same material as thewalls, since this material resists the corrosive eflfects of laboratory fumes and outer casing is finished with white enamel, which is baked and polished. All cabinetsare mounted on nickel-plated steel bases. Heating of the cabinet is effected by means of the De Khotinsky standard heating units,any one of which can instantly be replaced in case of an accidental breakage, without stop-ping the service, or opening the door of the cabinet.
