With so manymouths to feed, JosiahFranklin could not af-ford to keep any oneof his children longin school. However,Benjamin learned toread when he was very young, and at the age of eight he was sent to the LatinGrammar School. The next year he went to a schoolwhere arithmetic and writing were taught.
