Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki walks past the historic Gate no. 2 at the Gdansk Shipyard during the celebrations of December 1970 December 14-22, 1970, there were riots and strikes due to the rise in retail food prices by the authorities. During these events 40 people were killed and more than 1,100 were injured. The largest workers strikes took place in Gdansk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Elblag. They were suppressed by the army and the militia.
