Most of the A frames and racks were con-structed at the Bay Shore shops. They are built of Ore-gon fir and are designed to carry 50 tons of beets. Asteam crane with specially made equalizer and chain slingon each end is used in handling them. The special equal-izer and spring makes it possible to do this without (lam-aging them. The former is7 ft. long, 2 ft. 6 in. wide and _ ft. high. The tool steelhardening furnace is 33 in. by 34 in. This is a specialfurnace and is used principally in hardening and temper-ing high speed carbon and tool steel, many of the toolsbeing made in the shop.
