Common Dandelions (Taraxacum officinale) that have gone to seed with the globe shaped dandelion "clock" visible

Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) native to the United Kingdom, Europe and most temperate regions. These images are of the plant when it has gone to seed during spring. The sight of what people call a dandelion clock is common in Britain and many other countries. The seeds are blown about and float in the wind to help the plant to propagate. Many people, especially children like to blow the seeds off the dandelion and count how many blows it take to remove them all. Dandelions are a common weed and are a problem for gardeners and agriculture. The entire plant is edible.
