Robert Deegan, a former volunteer docent and a retired US Navy Commander, visited the Hampton Roads Naval Museum on its first day open in 2019. Deegan volunteered with the museum in 1994, and originally started at the historic Pennsylvania House aboard Naval Station Norfolk where the museum was originally located.
