Humpback whale breath #1, Squally Reach, mid-coast British Columbia
The waters of the Great Bear Rainforest of mid-coast British Columbia are rich feeding grounds for Orcas (killer whales), humpback whales, fin whales and right whales. The whales will be endangered by tanker traffic though these environmentally sensitive waters, and especially by any oil spill that might occur. This is an image of a mother humpback whale's blow hole and her breath hanging in the air, while her calf swims by her side.
