Vanadinite is a relatively rare mineral containing the elements lead, chlorine and vanadium. Chemical formula is Pb5(VO4)3Cl, and its crystal symmetry is hexagonal. It usually occurs in the direct vicinity of lead ores. Its crystals, here seen as well formed tabular hexagons, have a characteristic orange-red color. Provenance is the Mibladen mining province in Morocco; actual width of sample is 120 mm.
