PACIFIC OCEAN (September 22, 2016) – Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) conduct an anchor drop in the ship’s forecastle. Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is conducting integrated training with the 11th Marine Expeditionary unit off the coast of Southern California, in preparation for a scheduled deployment.
