Rattlesnake Noggin 2

This Mojave rattlesnake wasn't the stick I first thought it to be. I recognized it, and jumped to the side but it just sat there so I grabbed a camera and started snapping photos. Crossing the cattle guard back and forth, I startled a ground squirrel hiding in the space beneath. It is probably what the snake was hoping to make its meal. The images were shot using a so-called macro ring, together with a 160-600mm zoom lens so I could move in close (but not TOO close), and collect a few pictures. I had chosen the location for drone imagery, and after a bit, the meter-long snake had decided to slide below the cattle guard, where it disappeared into a hole where the camera dare not follow. I used software to create a collage that ran the visible length of the snake but could not get the (51 megabyte on disk, gigabyte uncompressed) file to upload.
