Secondly, there wasthe popular party, led by David Lloyd, com-posed mainly of country Friends, and reinforcedin time by sympathetic Germans and otherliberty-loving people; and thirdly, there was anopposition non-Quaker party, not strong inCouncil or Assembly, whose ultimate object wasto make a crown colony and an establishedchurch. James Logan and David Lloyd were suchprominent men in early Pennsylvania, that theydeserve more than a passing notice. James Logan was born in Ireland in 1674
