The Blackwater Rail Traill comprising a range of habitats of around 8 miles length following the former Witham to Maldon railway
The Blackwater Rail Trail is a linear wildlife-rich trail comprising a range of habitats of around 8 miles length following the former Witham to Maldon Railway Line with a small gap at Wickham Bishops. The route passes through the pretty village of Langford and includes views of the River Blackwater and a riverside section along the River Chelmer into Maldon. At the southern end lies the old disused railway platform of Langford Halt, which we have renovated with help from Tescos Bags of Help scheme. Improvements were made to the surface of the footpath, four benches installed and two interpretation boards added depicting the history of the area and the flora and fauna that can be seen in the area.
