Leaves broadly ovate to oval, ir-4' long, 1-3^ wide, acute at the apex, broadly cuneate to truncate at the base, serrate or doubly serrate with broad shallow acuminate lobes, tomentose, becoming scabrous above, subcoriaceous; corymbs ' many-flowered, tomentose ; flowers about 10' broad; stamens about 10; anthers yellow; styles and nutlets 4 or 5; fruit globose or sub- globose, 8'-io' thick, bright crimson, slightly pubes- cent; calyx-lobes but slightly swollen, .spreading; flesh thick, juicy and edible.
