Although affairs looked rather discouraging at the declaration ofwar, yet through the efforts of the band committee, the membership isstill up to the twenty-five mark. This consists of two faculty membersof the band. These are appointed by the President of the University. The third mem-ber of the committee is elected by the students of the band from the members who areupper classmen. The director is appointd by the President of the University in conferencewith the band committee. Any man on the campus might be selected for this position,although the last two have been members of the Department of Music. However, beingon the faculty of the Department of Music gives no one a claim to the directorship of theband. The band will always try
