The Centnd Preshi/terian Church is situated on the corner of Mc-Nab street and Maiden Lane, and was erected in 1857-8 by the con-gregation which formerly worshipped on Merrick Street, and which wasthen designated the United Presbyterian Congregation. The buildingis a large elojrant structure of white pressed brick, the front elevationsurmounted with two turrets. Its length is 126 feet and its width 72,and is seated to accommodate 1,500 persons. Theentire cost of house and ground, about 833,000, has been paid by theCongregation, which, during the last ten years, has raised for religiouspurposes more than $70,000. The Congregation was first organized about 25 years ago. Theirfirst Pastor, the Rev. J. Dalrymple, remained but a few years withthem, leaving behind him a fragrant memory. They next procuredthe services of the Rev, J. Hogg—now of Guelph—who labored faith-fully and successfully among them three or four years. In 1856 thepresent pastor, Rev. W. Ormiston, J). D., was settled over them, sincethat time the progress of the Congregation has been marked and mostencouraging. The membership is now 530. The Sabbath Schoollarge and prosperous, and all the public services well attended. Stated Meetin
