He read law and com-menced its practice in Belle -fontaine in 1845. Was made Was elected Prosecutor THE 57 and Probate Judge of Logan county in 1852. In 1863 he engagedin the undertaking business in Bellefontaine, at the corner of De-troit street and Columbus avenue; built Bennett Block, andlater added furniture to his business. He died August 22, 1889. At the time of death he was theoldest elder in Bellefontaine, and had served this church in thatcapacity nearly forty-three years, a longer
