OYSTER-SHELL PRODUCTS: The United States produc- tion of grit and agricultural lime from oyster-shell products in 1953 totaled 466,732 tons, valued at $3,830,276 to the manufac- turers (table 1). This was an increase of 9 percent in quantity and 14 percent in value as compared with 1952. No clam shells were used in 1953. Crushed-shell products were prepared in 27 plants--4 each in Pennsylvania and Washington; 3 each in New Jersey, Virgin- ia, and California; 2 each in Maryland, North Carolina, and Texas; and 1 plant each in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Feeding fish meal to poultry.
