On December 10, the International Day of Human Rights is celebrated and this demonstration takes advantage of the world anniversary to make visible the serious situation in which the Saharawi people have lived since 1975 and the continuous violations of human rights by the Moroccan occupation regime in Western Sahara. The human rights of the Saharawi people are violated daily, and for 45 years, by the Kingdom of Morocco. There are numerous atrocities deliberately and systematically committed by the Moroccan occupation forces against the Saharawi population in the occupied cities, through the siege of Sahrawi activists, harassment, harassment, torture, physical and psychological abuse , for the simple fact of being Sahrawis or that they have demonstrated against the occupation, without the possibility of having information about said situation, due to the hermetic closure of the territory in front of the international media, independent observers and human rights organizations . All of this occurs in the presence and in front of the view of the members of MINURSO without being able to even inform their superior authorities of this, being the only UN peacekeeping mission that does not have in its mandate to monitor and report on violations of the human rights in the territory due to the insolent opposition of France as a permanent member of the Security Council.
