'Portrait of Maria Alexandrovna', 1857. Marie of Hesse (1824-1880) was a German princess who married Tsar Alexander II of Russia in 1841. As Tsarina she was known as Maria Alexandrovna. Found in the collection of the State Hermitage, St Petersburg.
