The Royal Easter show is an annual event held in Sydney over two weeks around easter which promotes animal livestock, agricultural produce and rural merchandise and comprises an amusement park and fair with many competitions including arts and crafts, photography and cookery, as well as tests of strength and skill such as wood chopping. The Sydney Royal Easter Show is run by the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales and was first held in 1823. Queen Victoria, (1837–1901), awarded the society and its show the right to use the word "Royal"
