Panther chameleon. Close up of a panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis), showing the large eyes and tong-like feet typical of chameleons. Chameleons' eyes can rotate and focus separately giving a full 360-degree arc of vision, and sharp stereoscopic vision and depth perception. Chameleons are didactylic, on each foot the five toes are fused into a group of two and a group of three. This enables chameleons to grip tightly onto narrow branches. Photographed in the Montagne des Francais Reserve, Madagascar.
