The Arabian Nights is a series of stories in Arabic strung together by Scheherazade—last tale is about an enchanted horse.

The Thousand and One Nights, or Arabian Nights, is a series of stories in Arabic strung together by the story of Scheherazade, or Sheherazade, who kept her husband, a sultan, from killing her by telling these tales over a 1,000 nights. The last tale was added later. The last tale was that of the enchanted horse, pictured here in this 1917 illustration. According to the tale, the son of a Sultan checks out a horse brought to him by an Indian. The horse is enchanted and can glide through the air - as it does, with the prince on his back, it passes a kingdom, where the prince spies a beautiful princess and falls in love. Her father agrees to a marriage, but when the prince brings his bride back to the Sultan, the Indian takes the horse and the girl, against her will, to the kingdom Cashmere, where the Sultan there falls in love with her. the prince manages to enter Cashmere, and take back his princess/bride - all with the help of the enchanted horse.
