I had any straw hat, the jumper, the pants that were patchedgood; No bare spots appeared till my feet came in old woolen jacket that hung by the door; How often at night on returning from school,I found it the source of exquisite comfort To button it tight when the weather was cool. The old woolen jacket,The patch-covered jacket,The heavy, warm jacketThat hung by the door. That old woolen jacket, A^hen new, was a beauty, And worn by the brother then oldest in line,IVom brother to brother it slowly descended Intil at the last that jacket was stretched in the arm-holes, twas torn in thecollar; Its colors were many, like Josephs, of striped in front and patches around it.
