The first convention of the Fraternity was held on August9, 1854, at Philadelphia. Although Alpha, Beta, Gamma andDelta were then in existence, delegates from the first two onlywere present. Dr. Morris J. Asch, of Alpha, presided, withWilliam M. McKeen, of Alpha, as Secretary. The minutes ofthis meeting are very brief and disclose little of , the second convention, held a year and a half later, wasfor many years regarded as the first convention.
