As stated heof Fair Oaks and Chancellorsvillc, once in theface and once in the hip, and he also suffered a sunstroke, producing dis-abilities that finally led to his being discharged as above noted. Afterretiring from the army Capt. Bain engaged in the oil business in Pennsyl-vania, but later returned to Albany, where he was forfifteen years in thestate library.
