Ventrifossa sp.: Paxton and Lavenberg, 1973:47-50, fig. 1 (one specimen in mouth of anglerfish Diceratias bispinosus found floating on surface, Bismarck Sea). DIAGNOSIS A broad-headed species of Ventrifossa, subgenus Sokodara (as defined by Iwamoto, 1979), with 8-9 pelvic fin rays. Lining of oral cavity blackish. Inter- orbital width 28-30 percent of HL. Barbel small, 11-16 percent HL. Scales small Aust. Zool. 21(1), 1982 57.
