Cape Town, South Africa. July 16,2024: The container ship KOTA SINGA is a regular on sea route between Asia & African West Atlantic coast. The large vessel is currently passing the Cape of Good Hope. The geopolitical situation in Red Sea, marked by Houthi attacks on merchant ships in Bab Al-Mandab Strait, has led to a disruption of international maritime traffic (partially diverted towards Horn of Africa) & a surge in freight rates between Asia & Europe/Maghreb. Picture taken at the end of May 2024 in the Strait of Malacca. The ship was heading towards Kaohsiung (Taiwan), then the Chinese ports of Xiamen, Hong Kong, before returning to Kukup Island and Port Klang (Malaysia), then beginning its long journey to reach the west coast of Africa. The container ship begins its return journey today.
