Built 1719 to 1722 by King Frederik IV, architect Johan Cornelius Krieger, in Italian Baroque style, though the present classical facade was added later by Caspar Frederik Harsdorff. The palace was named as a memorial to the peace which ended the Second Nordic War (1700 to 1720). It is the spring and autumn residence of the Danish Royal family.
