Blood Wood Diamond
Hardwood 2x2 lumber sold in three foot sticks had outstanding wood grain, to my eye, so I bought them to cut into cubes, then arranged them on a scanner to create images of the wood first in checkerboard fashion, then in a more scattershot arrangement. From there, it was photo manipulation and editing to manage inconsistencies, and get colors I liked. It also needed additive copying and pasting to produce compiled images larger than my scanner can create natively.
