Sewer guides from after trip from Śródmieście to Mokotów district at Malczewskiego 6 street. From the left: Henryk Ziółkowski "Góral", Barbara Filipowicz-Tomaszewska "Barska", Jerzy Krzysztofowicz "Selim" and Janina Zaborowska "Rena". The sewers were the only unguarded routes crossing the city and these guides spent much time down there leading members of the Home Army. The Warsaw Uprising was a massive attempt by the Polish Home Army to defeat the Wehrmacht and SS Occupation towards the end of WW2.
