Dayak statue carved from a single piece of Ironwood and known as Patung to Indigenous Dayaks
Dayak statue carved from a single piece of the robust Ironwood (Eusideroxylon zwageri) known as Patong in the Dayak Community (Ethnic Minority groups) of Kalimantan in Indonesian Borneo. Often used as a construction material in Borneo for houses and the community Lamin (Longhouse). Borneo was once home to vast areas of Ironwood forest which has since been significantly reduced over the last 30 or 40 years due to extreme logging.
