PROSTATE BRACHYTHERAPY

Photo essay from hospital. Prostate brachytherapy at the Hôpital Saint Louis in Paris. This technique enables a high dose of radiation to be delivered directly to the tumor to be treated while avoiding exposing healthy tissues. The main advantage of brachytherapy resides in this low toxicity for organs in the proximity of the tumor. Shown here, brachytherapy by implanting \seeds\ of 125 radioiodine, used for superficial prostate cancers. The image shows the seeds of radioiodine (small dark lines).
