Radar map of a hemisphere of Venus with a latitude and longitude grid superimposed. The image is centered on the equator at 180 degrees east longitude with the north pole at top. The dominant feature here is a radar-bright band. This is the upland continent Aphrodite Terra. The circular canyon Artemi Chasma is at lower left and the highest part of the continent at centre left. The radar-dark area toward upper left is part of the lowland Niobe Planitia. In the far top left is Atalanta Planitia. The data for this image were gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft. Areas of missing Magellan data have been filled in with lower-resolution Pioneer-Venus data.
