SAN DIEGO (July 24, 2018) Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Moises Guerrero (left), a boatswain’s mate with the Coast Guard Maritime Security Response Team–West (MSRT-West), explains the capabilities of the 33-foot special purpose craft – law enforcement to Navy Rear Adm. MSRT-West crew members are participating in an exercise as part of the Southern California component of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC). Twenty-five nations, 46 ships and five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Island and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among the participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans. RIMPAC 2018 is the 26th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
