Laser measurement of velocity in a flame

Research, conducted in the 1980's into the combustion of fuels: Laser doppler velocimetry apparatus being used to measure velocities in a diffusion flame. The Combustion Research Facility and Sandia National Laboratory, Livermore, California, uses bench-top lasers to study how and why fuels burn. The studies are aimed at creating heat engines and systems that burn fuel more efficiently while creating less pollution.
