A limited program to assist Newfoundland fishermen (but not processors) by the purchase of I949 carry-over stocks of salt cod was announced by the L'inister of Fisheries in the House of Commons on June 28. Chile's fisheries were surveyed during April and i/iay by a representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization.
