Pvt. George Hengle from Co. B, 308th Inf., was captured at Verdun on October 4, 1918. He sustained a machine gun wound to the right ankle. Pvt. 1st cl. Jeff D. Quinn from Co. P, 167th Inf. (formerly 4th Alabama Inf.), was captured on April 11, 1917, at St. Maurice. He had his leg amputated in a German hospital. The photograph was taken in Strassburg, Alsace.
