Since that time a steadily in- creasing fund of information has been gathering in regard to the losses from these causes and the methods of control. Special researches on the diseases most dif&cult to control have brought results. For example, the Brooks spot of apple, a disease that had long caused considerable injury to fruit throughout New England and particularly in New Hampshire, was traced to a fungus not pre- viously known to have infected apples.
