In the spring of 1887, he branched out for himselfand opened the first electric shop between Denver andSan Francisco, and has conducted an electrical con-tracting business ever since. The population of Salt Lake City in 1870 wasabout 20,000; today it is estimated at over 140,000. This city enjoys the distinction of being the largestconsumer of electricity in the world, according to pop-ulation, there being 99% connected with the servicesof the Utah Power & Light by W. H. Brommage in a recent number of the PacificTelephone Magazine.
