Othoere, Other, or Otho (as sometimes wrote) is said, insome pedigrees of this family, to be descended from the Dukes ofTuscany, and, coming from Florence into Normandy, passedfrom thence into England : but Othoere is mentioned, in the ap-pendix to the life of King Alfred, to be living in his reign, a richand povi^erful Lord, and to derive his descent from ancestors inthe kingdom of Norviay. It also appears, that Othek, as wrote in Doomsday-Book, ^was living in England in the reign of Edward the Confessor; andin the pedigrees is made to be the son of Othoere.
