Chronic cholecystitis, light micrograph

Chronic cholecystitis, light micrograph. Chronic cholecystitis occurs after repeated episodes of acute cholecystitis and is almost always due to the buildup of bile. The mucosa is thickened and shows chronic inflammatory infiltrates and a lymphoid follicle. Two Rokitansky–Aschoff sinuses appear in the muscular layer.
