Striped hawk-moth
Striped hawk-moth (Hyles livornica), a brightly marked species with olive brown forewings and body with white stripes. Its flight period is between February and October depending on the location. It is found in southern Europe and Africa and is a scarce immigrant to the UK. The larvae feed on bedstraw and dock. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
