Pink and red carnations were to be seen in great profusion and large quan- tities were sold to the street men at ridiculously low prices. In this connec- tion it may be said that on Saturday, the only fair day in the week, these men reaped a harvest along the promenade streets. The best price for carnations was about $3 per hundred. Orchids have not been of as good qual- ity as desired and the best brought but $6 per dozen. Gardenias were plentiful, the average, price being $25 per hundred. Mignonette could not be sold at any price and you could get all the daisies in the market at $2 or less per hundred. Were it not for funeral work, of which there is a quantity, the last week, with its low prices, would start something in the way of worry. The coming week, however, should bring forth a change for the better. Various Notes. Upon the completion of the work on their stall in the Center market, J. M. Hammer & Son intend to put in a full line of cut flowers. This firm has here- tofore specialized on potted plants.
